ARCTIC TALE is part of a new breed of wildlife adventure that is breathing fresh excitement into the nature film genre. Through stunning, authentic images of polar bears and walruses in their native habitats, unfolds a story as filled with love, drama, humor and inspiration as any classic or contemporary fairy tale. The story is told not only with admiration for these fascinating animals, but with a passionate urgency because the magnificent world seen in the film could fade away within mere decades.
As a new generation of polar bears and walruses use all their natural skills and remarkable intelligence to adapt to a rapidly changing Arctic, they become not unlike young people all over the world, initiating daring, original solutions to the major challenges that face our planet with courage and devotion.
For the past 15 years, Adam and Sarah have been on a thrilling journey, traveling thousands of miles by dog team, and sleds through summers and minus 40-degree winters in pursuit of their elusive subjects.
After several dozen trips into the world's Arctic regions, they compiled over 800 hours of soul-stirring footage-getting as up-close-and-personal with these animals as humanly possible, and even documenting animal behavior never seen on film before. Living in tents and igloo's, the couple even brought their three children along the for the adventure.
The film took two years in post production in Los Angeles. It was there that Adam and Sarah picked through one million 7 hundred thousand feet of film and created the characters of Nanu and Seela. Nanu is the diminutive of Nanuq, which means polar bear in the Inuktitut language. Seela means bright and intelligent one. To the film makers, Nanu and Seela embody the very best of their species - qualities that Adam and Sarah witnessed in many of the bears and walrus they encountered on their journey.
